What cake video mapping is
Video mapping is an audiovisual technique that projects images precisely fitted to the shape of a surface, so that the object itself appears to transform. Applied to a cake, the result is mesmerizing: the tiers spin, bloom, fill with sparks or turn into a screen that tells the story of the guests of honor. It's not a flat projection onto a wall: it's the cake itself that appears to move, change color and texture before the guests' eyes.
How it works: from a plain white cake to a moving canvas
The base is a cake — real or a stage prop — in light tones with a smooth surface that acts as the canvas. A high-brightness projector is calibrated onto it and a custom audiovisual piece is played, synchronized with music and sound effects. The show lasts a few minutes, just long enough to move the audience without stalling the party, and ends naturally with the real cake-cutting. The whole technical process — calibration, sound, dimming the area — is handled by the audiovisual team before the guests even enter the room.
