So that Caudete could watch Spain v Argentina at the World Cup outdoors, Caudete Town Council asked us for a 4 × 2 metre LED screen on a structure, over 4,000 W RMS of HK Audio sound and the live production of the broadcast, with the Council's captions on screen. It is the kind of setup we do for town councils, in Albacete and across the rest of Spain.

An 8 m² screen outdoors
The screen hung from a truss structure, above the audience's heads. Outdoors it competes with daylight: there were people watching in daylight and after dark, and the picture had to be visible at both times. We explain what changes between an indoor and an outdoor screen in giant LED screens for concerts and fairs.

Over 4,000 W RMS of HK Audio sound
At a match, the sound is the commentary and the noise of the stadium, and outdoors it fades much faster than in a hall. We set up over 4,000 W RMS of HK Audio equipment on both sides of the screen. We explain how to calculate the sound for an open space in how to do the sound for a concert in a town square.

Live production with the Council's captions
As well as the screen and the sound, we did the live production of the broadcast with our own graphics: the match caption and the lower thirds carried the Caudete Town Council crest and the Zenor logo, like a TV broadcast. It is the same work we do for event streaming, applied to an outdoor screen.

What you need to watch a match outdoors
- An outdoor screen sized for the distance of the furthest viewers. What drives its price is in how much it costs to rent an LED screen.
- A structure to hang the screen at a good height, set up before people arrive.
- Sound that reaches the back, including people far from the screen.
- The signal and the live production: where the picture comes from, who puts it on the screen and whether the council wants its branding in the captions.
- The permits and insurance for the event, best sorted out in advance for a council event: we go over them in insurance and permits for municipal events.
